چکیده

Multiple description coding encodes a source for transmission over a communication system with multiple channels, which will generate two or more related bitstreams. When errors occur, the corrupted (lost) data can be recovered from the other bitstreams. In this study, a new multiple description motion compensation (MDMC) video coding scheme for lossy packet networks is proposed. In the proposed scheme, two descriptions are generated, a second-order motion compensation predictor is employed in the central encoding loop, multiple previous video frames are used to predict the current video frame, and a new mismatch signal coding method is employed to provide a better reconstructed performance by reducing the quantization error. Additionally, a proposed error concealment scheme at the decoder is used to reconstruct the corrupted macroblocks (MBs). Based on the simulation results obtained in this study, the performance of the proposed MDMC coding scheme is better than that of the two comparison MDMC schemes.

Interpolation Scheme for Fractional-Pel Motion Compensation Using Multi-Directional Filters

The H.264/AVC video coding standard supports motion-compensated prediction with quarter-pel accuracy of motion vectors. In the case of fractional-pel motion vector, pixels at fractional positions have to be interpolated. In an interpolation scheme, the two most important criteria are computational complexity and coding efficiency. In order to enhance both the computational complexity and coding...

H.264-Based Resolution, SNR and Temporal Scalable Video Transmission Systems

This paper presents a novel H.264-based video coding scheme for a scalable delivery system which operates over heterogeneous networks and distributes real-time streaming video to diverse types of clients. The video coding scheme is a hybrid combination of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and H.264. In the algorithm, an input video sequence is first decomposed into a fundamental sequence and a n...

H.264/AVC-Based Multiple Description Coding For Wireless Video Transmission

Multiple description coding is a promising solution for robust video communication over non-prioritized and unpredictable networks. In this paper, we propose a new multiple description coding scheme for the H.264/AVC video coding standard which enables adaptive and robust video transmission in wireless networks. In the proposed MDC, each description has a different prediction loop and contains ...

Multiple weighted prediction models for video coding with brightness variations

Weighted prediction (WP) is a tool introduced in H.264 to improve motion-compensation performance for video sequences with brightness variations. Various WP models to estimate the parameter set have been discussed in the literature. However, no single WP model works well for all types of brightness variations. A single reference frame multiple WP models (SRefMWP) scheme is proposed to facilitat...
